Brett Epstein's new solo show, Alone on Stage, part of 59E59 Theaters' East to Edinburgh 2024 series, is the perfect blend of comedy, charm and anxiety. Written and performed by Epstein and directed by Tom Costello, this show delivers a hilarious yet reflective stance on the highs and lows of being an artist, the essence of solitude, and the pursuit of authenticity.
Epstein brings his signature wit and charm to the stage, captivating the audience from start to finish. His comedic timing is impeccable, and his storytelling skills are top-notch. He seamlessly blends humor with moments of genuine introspection. His ability to be vulnerable and honest really connects him with the audience, making Alone on Stage not just a performance but an experience.
The stories he shares with the audience are deeply personal yet relatable. Some stand-outs include his brief relationship with his boyfriend and his conversation with a potential suitor on a dating app. He cleverly had an audience member read the script with him. It was a very funny moment in the show and a stark reminder of the tribulations of dating many have experienced.
Alone on Stage is a versatile, humorous, and super-engaging show that guarantees a great time. It is a must-see for anyone looking for an exceptionally entertaining performance.
